The young dolphins
Written and directed by Elisa Bocanegra
The Young Dolphins was created by Elisa Bocanegra as a series of family plays that grew out of community-based work she conducted in Mexico and in collaboration with marine biologists from the Kino Bay Marine Biology Center in Sonora, Mexico. Inspired by true teen activists, The Young Dolphins dives into the importance of community and is a testament to the power of young voices to protect our planet.
Thousands of students from L.A. public schools, ranging from pre-K to middle school, got the chance to witness the heartwarming, educational, hilarious, and action-packed story of Chapter One in May 2025. After its success and by popular demand, The Young Dolphins returned for a second chapter, performing to even more students and audiences October 2025.
